Basic information:
The winter stadium primarily serves the sporting public of Cheb. The local ice hockey club and figure skating club have their facilities here. Both ice rinks are used for skating lessons by schools and kindergartens, and last but not least, amateur ice hockey organisations operate here. The capacity of this beautiful venue with its wooden trusses is 1,670 places (1,518 seated + 152 standing).
History of the sports venue
The Cheb ice stadium was built in 1977 on the site of a former ravine on Valdštejnova Street. The original building had only a large and a small rink, which were situated in the open air. With the growing number of ice hockey enthusiasts and the establishment of new sports clubs, the original ice stadium building became inadequate. Therefore, in 2004, the entire ice stadium was renovated. The large ice rink was covered, and extensive facilities were built for the public, athletes, sports clubs, and operational staff. Nowadays, the ice stadium offers two ice rinks (large and small). There are a total of 16 hockey changing rooms with sanitary facilities and an additional 6 changing rooms without sanitary facilities. Visitors to public skating sessions have their own sector where they can use lockers, a vending machine for hot and cold drinks, and a skate sharpening service.
