Basic information:

The Lokomotiva Sports Complex is a multi-purpose sports facility for sports clubs and the general public. The complex is located within walking distance of the train and bus stations in the Hradčany district.

History of the sports venue

In the early 1950s, a cinder pitch was built, and on the occasion of the district Spartakiad, an existing stand for seated spectators was added. In 1954, changing rooms and a bowling alley were built, in the form we know them today. In the same year, other sections also began their activities – hiking, athletics, skiing.

Weightlifting. 1957 was the year the handball club was founded, when players from Czech handball switched to handbal. In 1959, the judo club was founded.

The current name „TJ Lokomotiva Cheb“ has been in use since 1960.

In the sixties, the TJ had a total of 16 sections and was one of the largest in the West Bohemian Region.

Between 1967 and 1974, the sports complex was rebuilt and a new sports venue was constructed, taking on its current form during this period. In collaboration with the Municipal National Committee in Cheb, the Czechoslovak Union of Physical Education (ČSTV), Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD), and the state-owned enterprise Kovo Cheb, a sports hall meeting international standards, a dormitory with a restaurant, and a reconstructed bowling alley with new hardboard lanes and automatic pinsetters were built. The football pitch was turfed, access roads were asphalted, a clay court for handball was built, and two volleyball courts were constructed, including new changing rooms with sanitary facilities for both athletes and the public.
