The winter stadium in Cheb has been in operation since Monday, 12th August 2024, following its summer break. To symbolically launch the new season in front of the general public today, there will be a clash between two Extraliga teams. A preparatory match between HC Energie Karlovy Vary and HC VERVA Litvínov will take place on the ice from 17:00. Tickets for the match can also be purchased on-site from 16:00 (cash payment only).
The ice surface at the Cheb ice stadium has undergone a significant transformation during the summer shutdown. The penalty box area has been narrowed to the final dimensions of the entire rink, measuring 60 x 26 metres. In addition to making the game itself more attractive, this intervention will primarily lead to significant savings in ice maintenance. The sports facility management has also arranged for the repair of the base beneath the ice. The new repair coating is pure white. The home team bench has had its surface repaired/replaced. In cooperation with the HC Stadion Cheb ice hockey club and city representatives, we are continuing to address the emergency state of the scoreboard, which is expected to be replaced by modern audiovisual technology in the near future. Everything is still at the negotiation stage, and a decision could be made by the end of August. Over the summer, the problems with the machinery room have also been resolved, with extensive repairs carried out on the piping, which was already in a state of disrepair. Just before operations resumed, the main circuit breaker in the sub-station was replaced, having been in service for over 40 years. A failure of this component could have resulted in a loss of electrical power throughout the entire ice stadium complex.
The ice rink at the winter stadium in Cheb is therefore already in operation. Those interested in using the winter stadium can send their requests to the manager, Mr. Jiří Kába (kaba(at)sportovistecheb.cz).
