Due to the prevailing situation surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, a decision was made on Monday 1st March to prematurely close both the small and large ice rinks at the Cheb ice stadium. On Tuesday, staff from the Sports Facilities Administration commenced work on defrosting the ice on both rinks. The entire defrosting process takes approximately one calendar month. After shutting down the machinery that freezes both the small and large rinks, ammonia is extracted from the piping. During this, the complete melting of the ice is awaited. The final step involves removing water from the rinks. Immediately after the defrosting work is completed, preparations for the 2021/2022 season's freezing system will begin.
To all sports clubs and athletes using the ice rink, we thank you for your cooperation during the past chaotic season and look forward to the next, hopefully complete one.
