The operation of the ice rink was terminated prematurely

Due to the prevailing situation surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, it was decided on Monday, 1st March, to prematurely close both the small and large ice rinks at the Cheb ice stadium. The following day, staff from the Sports Facilities Management began the work associated with defrosting the ice on both surfaces. The entire defrosting process takes approximately one calendar month. After switching off the machinery that serves to freeze the small and large rinks, the ammonia is drained from the pipes. During this time, the complete melting of the ice is awaited. The final step is the removal of water from the surfaces. Immediately after the defrosting work is completed, preparations for the cooling system for the 2021/2022 season will commence.

To all sports clubs and athletes using the ice rink, we thank you for your cooperation during the past chaotic season and look forward to the next, hopefully complete one.

During the stadium's shutdown, ice rink workers are carrying out maintenance on a variety of equipment. The ice hockey goals will also be repainted.
